ORIGAMI in The Garden

The Gardens on Spring Creek is Fort Collins’ community botanic garden. At 12 acres in size with year-round programming, The Gardens creates meaningful connections between people and the natural environment. As The Gardens celebrates its 20th anniversary, we are ever mindful that the world-class garden you see today is the result of thousands of individuals who have supported our mission along the way with their time, their talent, and their treasure.

Program Details

Like gardening, both the practice and the pursuit of art have positive impacts on mental health, brain activity, and longevity. At The Gardens, we feature many kinds of art — sculpture, garden design, "plein air" painters, and temporary art exhibits.  In 2021, The Gardens featured "Mountain Hardwoods," in 2022 we hosted "BirdHouse Villages," and in 2023 we hosted "A Journey of Growth and Transformation."  For our 20th Anniversary, we are hosting our first major art show – ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN.

Program Impact

The ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN art exhibition is created by Santa Fe artists Jennifer and Kevin Box in collaboration with origami artists Tim Armijo, Te Jui Fu, Beth Johnson, Michael G. LaFosse and Robert J. Lang.

From the humble beginnings of a single sheet of paper to extraordinary large-scale metal sculptures, ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN takes visitors on a visual journey and invites us all to consider – what can we become?

Free with admission, this exhibition will be spread throughout the grounds and will include access to a dial-in-from-your-phone descriptive audio tour. The Gardens’ team is currently building out additional programming featuring learning activities, a scavenger hunt, and cultural education.

We anticipate a significant bump in attendance from Denver to Cheyenne and will provide a wonderful opportunity for awareness of The Gardens in the northern Colorado community.
